20 Early Signs Your Body is Fighting Cancer

Your body is constantly sending you signals.

Sometimes, these signals are easy to dismiss—a little more tired than usual, a change in appetite, unexplained bloating, a persistent cough, or a strange change in your skin. In many cases, these symptoms are caused by ordinary conditions and have nothing to do with cancer.

But when a change is new, unexplained, persistent, or getting worse, it should not simply be ignored.

Cancer can develop in different parts of the body and may produce very different symptoms. Some warning signs are obvious, while others can be subtle and easily mistaken for everyday health problems.

This is why understanding potential warning signs can be important.

Indirect Symptoms

Cancer does not always cause symptoms directly related to the location of the tumor.

Sometimes, the body reacts to the disease in ways that affect other organs and systems. Changes in metabolism, inflammation, immune responses, blood cells, hormones, or organ function can produce symptoms that may initially seem unrelated.

These are sometimes referred to as indirect or systemic symptoms.

The important thing to remember is that these symptoms do not prove that someone has cancer. Many of them are far more commonly caused by other medical conditions.
