10. Unexplained changes in breast size or shape
A sudden change in the size, shape or position of a breast — without pregnancy, weight change or hormonal explanation — may be an early sign.
Warning signs:
Only one breast is affected
Persistence beyond two weeks
No connection to the menstrual cycle
A feeling of heaviness or hardness
Tip: Take monthly photos of your breasts, with the same lighting and position, to spot subtle changes over time.
9. Wrinkling of the skin or change in breast texture
If the skin of the breast begins to appear wrinkled or resembles orange peel (peau d’orange), take it seriously.This occurs when cancer cells block the lymphatic vessels under the skin, pulling the skin inward. This is often associated with invasive forms of breast cancer.
