Allergies, asthma, respiratory infections, acid reflux, smoking, and other conditions can all cause prolonged coughing.
However, a cough that persists or progressively worsens—particularly when accompanied by coughing up blood, unexplained weight loss, chest discomfort, or difficulty breathing—should be medically evaluated.
10. Persistent Hoarseness or Voice Changes
An unexplained change in your voice can have many causes, including infections, allergies, acid reflux, smoking, and vocal strain.
But if hoarseness or another voice change continues for an extended period without an obvious explanation, it should be checked by a healthcare professional.
11. Difficulty Swallowing
Persistent difficulty swallowing can sometimes indicate a problem involving the throat or digestive system.
It may be caused by acid reflux, inflammation, neurological conditions, structural problems, or other disorders.
In some cases, cancers affecting the throat or esophagus can also cause swallowing difficulties.
If food repeatedly feels as though it is getting stuck or swallowing becomes progressively harder, seek medical evaluation.
12. Persistent Bloating or Abdominal Changes
Almost everyone experiences bloating occasionally.
It can result from certain foods, constipation, digestive problems, hormonal changes, or eating too quickly.
But persistent or unusual bloating deserves attention, especially when it occurs together with unexplained weight loss, abdominal pain, changes in bowel habits, or feeling full unusually quickly.
