There was no red carpet. No Hollywood ballroom. No giant birthday cake surrounded by cameras. No reporters waiting for a famous actor to say something memorable.
Instead, on a quiet January morning, a Hollywood legend made a request that seemed almost too simple for a man who had spent more than six decades entertaining the world.
“I don’t want a party,” Alan Alda said.
