For 3 Years, My Mother Screamed During Every Bath. My Brother Called It Attention-Seeking. Then One Caregiver Touched Her Back — and Everything Changed

“I need to tell you something.”

Margaret looked frightened.

“What?”

“If these documents support what you’re saying, this may involve more than family deception.”

Sophie nodded.

“Kidnapping?”

“Possibly.”

Rebecca continued.

“Also fraud.”

“Identity manipulation.”

“Concealment.”

“Potentially inheritance theft.”

Margaret stared.

“Inheritance?”

Rebecca pointed toward the trust documents Sophie had printed.

“If Emily was legally alive, she may have been entitled to part of Richard’s estate.”

Margaret’s face tightened.

“And Nathan?”

“He may have received assets that should have been divided.”

Margaret looked away.

Sophie understood immediately.

Nathan had a financial reason to keep Emily dead.

At least on paper.

Rebecca requested the estate file.

Three days later, she returned.

Her expression was grim.

“There is a problem.”

Margaret’s fingers tightened around her coffee cup.

“What?”

“Richard’s will originally listed two children.”

“Nathan and Emily.”

Margaret nodded.

“That sounds right.”

“But an amendment was filed after Emily disappeared.”
