She stood with her head lowered.
– Sorry.
This time it wasn’t about a seat on the plane.
– I hope that one day you will understand why this was important to me.
I entered the cockpit.
The captain closed the door behind me.
He looked at me seriously.
– Marcus, I have to tell you something.
– What happened?
The captain pointed to the screen.
There was a new route on the map.
– We received a message from the security check.
– What?
The captain turned the monitor towards me.
There was one sentence on the screen:
“Don’t let Marcus Reed get to New York.”
I looked at them for a few seconds.
– Who sent this?
The captain shook his head.
– We don’t know that yet.
I looked through the cockpit window at the clouds.
Suddenly, everything that had happened at site 1A no longer mattered.
Because someone knew I was on board.
And he was clearly very keen to make sure I never reached my destination.
