### How to Help a Choking Baby
Here again, the goal is to clear the airway and arrange urgent transport to the hospital if necessary.
**If the baby is in distress, unable to cry, cough, or breathe:**
1. Lay the infant face down against your forearm, head downwards, supporting their back and head well.
2. Give up to five slaps on the back with the heel of your hand.
3. Check their mouth and remove any *visible* foreign objects. **Never perform a blind finger sweep in the mouth.**
