I watched as something my husband had worked so hard to build was destroyed.
And I didn’t give Katherine the reaction she wanted.
She expected me to scream.
She expected tears.
She expected a fight.
Instead, I quietly went back inside.
That was the moment she made her biggest mistake.
She thought she had won.
She thought she had silenced my children.
She thought she had destroyed the one thing that mattered most to me.
But she didn’t know what I was about to do.
I spent the rest of the morning making phone calls.
I spoke to people who could help me.
I gathered evidence.
I documented everything.
I took photographs.
I saved the security-camera footage.
And I made one particular phone call.
By that evening, I had hired someone.
I didn’t tell Katherine.
I didn’t warn her.
I simply waited.
The following day, I heard shouting outside.
At first, I ignored it.
Then the shouting became louder.
I walked toward the window.
And there she was.
Katherine was running across the yard toward my house.
She looked absolutely furious.
“No!” she screamed.
I stepped outside.
“What happened?”
She pointed behind her.
“ANYTHING BUT THIS!”
Her face was red with anger.
“How could you possibly do something like this to me?!”
I stood there quietly.
