Rosemary Oil and Prostate Health: What You Should Know

Rosemary is a flavorful herb that contains antioxidant plant compounds, and rosemary-infused oil can be used as part of a healthy diet. However, there is no reliable evidence that drinking rosemary oil or applying it to the body can shrink an enlarged prostate, restore urine flow quickly, or eliminate nighttime urination.

You can prepare a simple rosemary-infused culinary oil at home.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2–3 tablespoons fresh rosemary, thoroughly washed and completely dried
  • A clean glass jar with a tight-fitting lid

Step 1: Make sure the rosemary is completely dry. Fresh herbs containing moisture can increase the risk of spoilage when stored in oil.

Step 2: Place the dried rosemary in a clean jar and add the olive oil.

Step 3: Seal the jar and refrigerate it while it infuses. For a safer homemade preparation, make small batches and use them promptly rather than storing them at room temperature for long periods.

Step 4: Strain the oil before using it and discard the rosemary.

Step 5: Use a small amount over vegetables, salads, beans, fish, or other balanced meals.
