Is there a medical explanation?
Will it change as he gets older?
Those are natural questions.
Human beings are fascinated by unusual physical traits because they challenge what we expect to see.
Hair color is usually something we associate with genetics and age.
White or gray hair is commonly associated with older adults, so seeing it on a newborn creates an immediate contrast.
But unusual hair pigmentation can occur for several reasons.
In some children, extremely light hair may be associated with genetic conditions that affect pigmentation.
In other situations, the appearance may be connected to naturally low pigmentation or a distinctive family trait.
A photograph alone cannot tell us the medical explanation.
And that is an important distinction when discussing unusual appearances.
Something that looks extraordinary doesn’t necessarily mean something is wrong.
