Waking Up at 3 AM to Urinate? What Your Prostate May Be Telling You

Sometimes the prostate is involved, but nighttime urination can have many different causes. An enlarged prostate, also called benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH, is one common reason men develop urinary symptoms as they age. BPH is not prostate cancer, but an enlarged prostate can press against the urethra and interfere with normal urine flow.

Typical symptoms can include waking frequently at night to urinate, needing to urinate more often during the day, having difficulty starting urination, a weak or interrupted stream, feeling that the bladder has not completely emptied, or experiencing a sudden urge to urinate.

However, there is no combination of four vitamins that can reliably shrink an enlarged prostate and stop nighttime urination within 30 hours. Vitamins and nutrients can contribute to overall health, but they should not be presented as a rapid cure for BPH or other prostate conditions.
