I toured the place before Diane moved in, but I didn’t sign Noah up.
I filled out a request for quote form for Tuesdays and Thursdays, noon to six, then hesitated to ask about the price.
Diane’s childcare was free. Professional childcare would have depleted our savings.
From the living room I could hear Noah asking Grandma to use his walrus voice.
She complied with his request and he burst out laughing.
I was thinking about closing the site, asking for another month, and giving Mark more time.
But what would another month bring?
As I typed Noah’s name, I paused when I saw his school start date, imagining how he would feel when his grandmother wasn’t waiting for him.
None of this was his choice.
Nevertheless, I sent the inquiry.
The director called the next morning.
They had a spot available, but the pickup had to be completed by 5:30 PM.
