My husband told me he was exhausted from work and needed to go on vacation alone. At first, I tried to respect his space… But I couldn’t help but wonder why he didn’t want me there. So I followed him, and what I saw next to him gave me goosebumps.

As for me, the first few months were painful.

But something unexpected happened.

I stopped wondering where Daniel was.

I stopped checking if I was telling the truth.

I stopped feeling like I had to earn someone’s loyalty.

One night, almost a year after that hotel visit, I booked a vacation for myself.

Alone.

Not because I was running away from anyone.

Not because there was some mystery waiting for me.

Travel and transportation

But also because for the first time in years, I wanted to spend time with the one person I had neglected while trying to save my marriage.

Yes.

And as the plane took off into the sky, I finally understood something Daniel never understood:

Sometimes leaving doesn’t destroy your life.

Sometimes this is the first step to getting it back.
