With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to a true television legend… See more

After his death, EMS professionals around the country shared memories of Mantooth.

EMS1 reported tributes from fire and EMS leaders emphasizing that he had inspired generations of professionals and had continued advocating for emergency workers for decades.

One particularly striking theme appeared repeatedly:

Mantooth was more than an actor.

He was an advocate.

That is not something a publicity campaign can easily manufacture.

It was built over years.

Decades, in fact.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department Remembered Him Too

The Los Angeles County Fire Museum and Los Angeles County Fire Department have continued to recognize Mantooth’s role in preserving the history of fire and EMS.

In September 2026, the Los Angeles County Fire Museum held a public open house honoring Mantooth’s life and career. The event allowed firefighters, retired personnel, fans and members of the public to share stories and sign a remembrance book for his family.

That kind of tribute says something important.
